Schuler and Mueller Weingarten merged ?Cnew company is world leader in forming technology Schuler AG has taken over Mueller Weingarten AG has merged the two firms. The new company has its headquarters in Goep-pingen and is the world leader in the field of forming technology for the metalworking industry, with a global market share of around 35%. The new Schuler AG is represented as a techno-logical and world market leader in more than 20 countries, gen-erates turnover in excess of EUR 900 million, and has global market coverage in terms of distribution, production and service. The merger will allow Schuler AG to exploit new growth oppor-tunities. The drivers of this growth will be innovative products resulting from considerably enhanced engineering potential, a stronger presence in the growth markets ?C in particular Asia and Eastern Europe ?C and the expansion of the successful services business. Juergen Tonn, CEO of Schuler AG, stated: The ability of our company to adapt to future needs will secure jobs in Ger-many for years to come. Today we are proceeding on the as-sumption that we will exceed the billion mark in turnover in the next three years and substantially improve our profit situation. The strengths, structures and worldwide locations of Schuler and Mueller Weingarten complement each other perfectly. The merg-ing of the two companies created a global corporation headquar-tered in Germany which has the pportunity to: •further develop its ability to handle future competition; •further expand its market position and thus further im-prove its ability to overcome the upcoming challenges of operations in the global markets; •offer its customers even better service and innovation; and, at the same time •create more secure jobs for years to come. Together, the two firms are now able to improve production pro-cesses, standardise products, shorten lead times and thus boost productivity. These advances, together with heightened innova-tive strength, considerably hone our competitive edge. Synergy effects on the cost side will come mainly from more efficient usage of production sites, the pooling of purchasing activities and the elimination of duplication in corporate functions. |
