The Waterjet Group, with sites in both the north and south of England, is going from strength to strength through its policy of investing in the latest up-to-date equipment. 70 percent of the company''s turnover emanates from the aerospace industry, having obtained a full list of approvals and accreditations from Airbus, Bombardier, BAE Systems including the Joint Strike Fighter (next generation British strike aircraft weapon system), GKN Westland, Rolls-Royce, and more. It is also a member of the North West Aerospace Alliance. Other strong markets include the defense, oil and gas as well as offshore industries.
This latest investment features separate, dual light-guarded cutting zones for tandem loading to allow increased productivity and flexibility. To further increase productivity it is also equipped with four cutting heads with independent height-sensing z-axis carriages. It has two ultrahigh pressure pumps and is capable of having a drill unit retrofitted at a later date. The large bed size will provide increased material utilization - imperative when processing 65-millimeter titanium, says Smiley Noel, Aerospace Business Development Director of The Waterjet Group. The system offers the facility to have two working areas of 6 by 3 meters cutting and loading/unloading at the same time or to cut a 12 meter sheet in one go.
