In 2005, the total production of forgings in China amounts to 3.26 million tons, among which about 2.44 million tons is used in automobile, motorcycle, agricultural vehicle, construction machinery etc industries, and more than 80 thousand tons of open die forgings is used in electricity, oil, metallurgy, mine, ship-building, machinery industries.

 

 

The equipment condition of Chinese forging industry is as following:

1.There are 140 sets of 8-165 MN hydraulic forging presses, among which 60-165 MN 15 sets, 25-45 MN  35 sets, others over 90 sets. More than 20 sets of presses over 1000 ton are needed in coming few years.

 

2. There are about 32000 open die hammers in China, namely 30000 sets below 1000 kg and 2000 steam/ air hammers between 1 to 10 ton.

 

3. Die forging hammers amount to 1100 sets, and maximum falling part weight is 16 ton. 20% of them have been reformed to be Chinese original created energy-saving hydraulic/ air hammers.

 

4. There are more than 3000 sets of screw presses in China, the maximum energy is 112MN, secondly 63MN and then 31.5MN.

 

5. Hot die forging press over 300 ton, clutch type/direct driven screw press, ring rolling machines(more than 1 meter), high speed hot upsetting press, cold/warm forging press, cold/warm extrusion press etc are respectively demanded 20-100 sets.
